Midlife is full of transitions: physical changes, career changes, divorces, empty nest syndrome... you name it!

At Terap we call this stage “mid-essence,” when you begin to yearn for deeper meaning in life. We help you navigate this uncertain time, stimulating your curiosity about what’s next, whether it’s new adventures, richer experiences, or spiritual growth.

Week 1: Personal Transitions

In our first week together, you will prepare to step out of your comfort zone and adapt to changes: in your career, relationships, empty nests, caring for your parents, etc.

To take this step, we first identify the difference between a change and a transition. Changes are things that happen in your environment, while transitions are how you grow inside.

Next, you’ll delve into your self-assessment, an activity that reveals which of the six transitions you’re facing. We’ll also have an open conversation about the Three Stages of Transition.

Outcome:
Through journaling, reflection, and open dialogue, you’ll develop a heightened awareness of how transitions or “life shocks” impact your identity and place in society.
Using insights from global midlife gurus, you’ll have practical strategies to empower yourself during transformative periods.

Setting the tone for the weeks ahead, you’ll create mindset management tools to redefine your view of late adulthood so you can reduce any self-doubt you may have about your midlife decisions.

Week 2: Physical Transitions

Let’s face the reality of physical transitions!
We’ll dive into how changes in your body can take a toll on your perception of yourself. We’ll give you the tools you need to purge the “inner age” that limits your happiness.
You’ll learn how to cope with health changes, menopause, illness, diet, exercise routines, and other important health issues related to aging.
Through the lens of transitional intelligence, you’ll learn about the power of a growth mindset and set goals to embrace unexpected outcomes.
We’ll show you how to enhance your body-mind awareness through vocal expression and physical presence.
We’ll help you transform your limiting beliefs about aging into positive opportunities.

Outcome:
You will end the week with a clearer understanding of how to prioritize what matters most in your life right now.

Week 3: Psychological Transitions

In midlife, it’s easy to become consumed by the pressures and struggles of decades in a career, raising children, or juggling finances. This feeling can often lead to feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, depression, or a general sense of stagnation. Sometimes we take it out on those we love most.
Without a healthy mindset, you risk spending these years stuck in old habits that leave you tired or cynical.
In week three, we’ll help you analyze your circumstances and take ownership of your feelings so you can confidently navigate these transitions and avoid the psychological traps that prevent so many people from truly finding happiness in midlife and beyond.

Outcome:
You will discover tools and strategies to break through the psychological transitions in your life that block your path to happiness.
Through engaging exercises designed to shift your attitude, you will find constructive ways to deal with midlife changes with more awareness and confidence.
As a result, you will begin to interact and connect with others in a more meaningful and rewarding way.

Week 4: Farewell / Passing Transitions

This week we’re going to explore something we’ll all face: dealing with the loss of a loved one or “parting ways” in relationships.
It could be the end of a friendship or saying goodbye to someone who has passed away. As you get older, these kinds of losses happen more frequently, causing many people to look at life differently.
You start to think more about what really matters to you, your relationships, and how you’ve grown as a person.
And that’s what we want to explore this week: how understanding and coping with loss can bring a new, deeper perspective to your life if you have the tools to turn these difficult times into opportunities for personal growth.

Outcome:
You will be empowered to better understand the emotions of these transitions. By honoring the healing power of community and rituals, you will make peace with the process of grieving and saying goodbye.

Week 5: Career Transitions

We believe that new directions in your work or career require two key qualities: being curious and wise.

Whether retiring, changing careers, leaving your role as a stay-at-home parent, or starting a new venture, these scenarios require transitional intelligence—a mindset that understands how to proceed when changes may seem threatening. To prepare for these career transitions, we delve into the nuances of financial considerations, new business and work models, and inspiring stories of resilience.
By fostering a growth mindset, you’ll learn to approach your career path with optimism while also recognizing the deeper value of career transitions.

Outcome:
Feel confident in making professional changes while maintaining your sense of identity.
As you transition your role in society, at home, or at work, you will have a clear vision of your new roadmap to personal success.
All the while, you will manage the threats inherent in these changes to emerge wiser and mentally stronger .

Week 6: Transitions of Purpose

In this final week, you will examine how your sense of purpose evolves as you grow older.

Compare what gives you a sense of purpose to when you were younger, when your purpose typically revolved around “proving yourself”—professionally, personally, or financially.

Toward midlife, this mission matures; you may begin to care more about “improving yourself,” nurturing your passions, well-being, and mindfulness. For others, the pursuit of purpose means giving back to society. Here you might begin to think about how to share your gifts and wisdom by being a coach, mentor, or volunteer. To further explore this stage, we will look at the paths of wonder. Finally, you will experience a revised version of your self-assessment from the beginning of the course. By repeating this activity with your new perspectives on midlife transitions, you will see how you have managed to resolve many of your initial fears.

Outcome:
You will feel more confident in the various transitions in your life and clearly visualize your next steps.
As you progress in applying our tools and knowledge in your life, you will continue your Terap experience as an alumni, with a community interested like you in continuing to learn and grow.

Through our platform, you will stay in touch with friends and join chapter events in your area to continue learning and growing.
